Making a caged bead (FREE)

Making a caged bead (FREE)

This is how I make a caged bead

•You will need to know how to make a spiral and a simple eye pin before you do this tutorial.

Measure and flush cut 20cm of 16g or 18g wire.

Spiral one end of the wire and alternately spiral the other end working little by little so that the spiraled ends are equal and the length of wire looks like an S.

Form domes by using your round nose pliers and pushing up through the center of each spiral.

Bend the piece in half, so that the dome bases are facing each other.

Spread the coils apart and adjust the wire to form a small oval cage as demonstrated.

Use your pliers to open the cage in the center, just wide enough to insert a bead of your choice.
Place the bead inside the cage so that the center spiral wraps around it.

Make a simple eye pin, then run the wire length through the caged bead.

Secure the eyepin and if desired, bend the wire as shown to tighten the cage around the bead.

Let me know how you went. I would love to hear your feedback.

You are also most welcome to send me a picture of your creation and I will place it in my customer gallery.

Enjoy!!
